The materials we produce sail the oceans, challenge Atlantic winds, equip projects that are changing the future of maritime transport. But behind every sail there's something more: experience, relentless research, patented technologies, and a clear vision. Creating extreme performance that respects the planet isn't a compromise—it's our mission.
The history of Flexon Composites begins long before 2013. It stems from over thirty years of experience in technical fabrics, years of relentless research, intuitions transformed into patents. When Piercarlo Molta founded the company in May 2013 together with Mauro Giusti and Enrico Grassi, he wasn't starting from zero: he was finalizing a long and rigorous journey.
The first result came quickly. In October 2013, just five months after foundation, OneSails International began commercializing 4T FORTE. The partnership was total from the beginning: Piercarlo also coordinates OneSails R&D, creating a unique integration between materials and design. In 2014 came the first LCA (life cycle) certifications attesting to the product's recyclability. Subsequently, the production unit obtained ISO 14001, confirming that performance and environment can converge.
Twelve years later, in October 2025, we see the result of this journey: the Neoliner Origin, the world's largest wind-powered cargo ship, crosses the Atlantic with our sails. It's not just a project. It's proof that Italian innovation can lead the global ecological transition.
Three people, three areas of expertise, one shared vision. When Piercarlo Molta, Mauro Giusti, and Enrico Grassi decided to found Flexon Composites, they brought different but perfectly complementary professional backgrounds.
Piercarlo is the visionary engineer. Raised in high-tech textile R&D—he spent over forty years working with fabrics, fifteen of which specifically dedicated to high-tech composites. Recognized as one of the world's leading experts in applying composite technologies to flexible materials, he has developed international patents and cultivated a passion for sailing that has inspired much of his research. Today he leads Flexon as CEO and also coordinates OneSails R&D, creating a unique bridge between material production and its application.
Mauro brings a unique background: from 1987 to 2012 he worked as a sailmaker and rigger for yachts, specializing in the development of high-performance laminates. In the company, he leads production and handles R&D for machinery and processes. Thanks to this versatility and continuous experimentation with lamination technologies, he has been and continues to be capable of constantly inventing cutting-edge technological solutions and products in our field. This, combined with years of production expertise, has taught him every secret of complex processes. He knows how to translate ideas into reliable and repeatable industrial procedures.
Enrico is the practical inventor. A technician with eclectic capabilities, he knows how to transform abstract concepts into functioning machines. He brings engineering creativity, practical sense, and craftsmanship to the team for designing and building proprietary prototypes and machinery that are the heart of Flexon's production process. His administrative experience at larger companies also brings a structured organizational vision.
Vaiano, province of Prato. Our headquarters is located in the heart of one of Europe's most important textile districts, a territory that for over ten centuries has transformed fibers into innovation. Here we operate in a technically advanced environment, personally selecting raw materials and preparing semi-finished products in-house for use in production, ensuring confidentiality and a production infrastructure equal to global challenges, also thanks to our partnership with the Tessiltoschi S.P.A. group.
Our journey is marked by recognitions that go beyond certificates. In 2014, CSQA certification attests that the life cycle study of 4T FORTE meets international standards ISO 14040 and ISO 14044. ISO 14001 certification of the production unit confirms that our environmental commitment is not just declared. The assertions, according to ISO 14021, are verified and validated by the same certification body. We believe that radical innovation and environmental responsibility are not alternatives, but two sides of the same coin. This conviction guides every choice, every project, every fiber we produce.
